This may be a monster week for Panama City Beach. Florida. On Wednesday the construction issue will be heard in a New York federal appeals court.Meanwhile the Corps of Engineers has suspended the 404 permit for the new airport. While
all of this has been going on Airport Authority officials are
optimistic a $575,000 federal grant to generate additional airline
service to Panama City-Bay County International Airport will bring
prompt results. The potential airlines targeted under the service
expansion are USAir (Charlotte), Delta Airlines and American Airlines
(Dallas-Fort Worth), and Continental Airlines (Houston). Under the
grant provisions, an airline must agree to create a flight that has a
minimum of three arrivals and departures per day. More on this later in the week.
